Module C

The craft of writing focuses on expanding and refining your personal writing style through the study of the various techniques and constructions of a series of short texts and the composition of your own persuasive, imaginative, discursive, and reflective texts. Your eye here is not towards quotes, but instead towards how literary decisions create specific meanings and form the overarching impact and shape of a text.

These choices range from specific literary techniques to embedded textual structures, and in your own writing you need to incorporate a feature from one of your set texts. Not only do you need to craft your own works, you need to reflect and examine them through exploring and justifying the decisions you have made through the composition of a reflection - an opportunity for you to show a link between a set text and your own writing through a selected device. By developing a strong grounding of the distinctive conventions of each text type and set text, you gain a great appreciation and knowledge of the process of writing.
