Module B

The purpose of the close or critical study of literature is to develop your appreciation of how the different elements of a text combine to enhance its meaning and significance. You must have regard to the context in which the text was composed, along with how techniques and decisions of form and structure are utilised to give expression to those issues of context.

Your primary focus should be on the text’s distinctive qualities, and how they shape individual responses to it. Crucially, you must form your own personal perspective on the ideas raised within your prescribed text.
